Horizon Education Alliance is proud to have partnered with the Community Foundation of Elkhart County to expand educational opportunities across our community for years now. Elkhart County residents have a few upcoming opportunities to apply for scholarships to further their career and educational goals thanks to the Community Foundation.

For adults

The Community Foundation of Elkhart County offers tuition assistance for adults working hard to obtain their degree or certificate. Each year the Community Foundation awards over 50 scholarships to adults working hard to obtain their degree or certificate. Students are eligible to receive up to $3,000 and may re-apply annually through our online application process.

The application is available at

The application deadline is March 1.

For high schoolers

With any of the scholarships offered by the Community Foundation, the application asks a few introductory questions that help guide the applicant toward the scholarships that can help them. That’s also the case with a single application used to award more than 25 different scholarships to high school seniors. One application unlocks consideration for the scholarships to help those planning on higher education after graduation. Students enrolling in part-time and full-time studies at two-year and four-year schools will be considered for a broad range of scholarships for tuition and academic fees.

The application is available at

The application deadline for the high school scholarships is also March 1.

One of the scholarships awarded from the universal application is the INSPIRE Scholarship which gives hard-working, community-minded students up to $3,000 per year. You can see last year’s winners at

For eighth-grade math aces

A scholarship for eighth graders who excel at math is also awarded annually. The John G. Blakesley Mathematica Excellence Scholarship for Eighth Grader is offered annually and then paid when the student goes to college. The application for that is at and closes March 10.
